Last week, Band Of Horses let the world know that their third album “Infinite Arms” would hit record stores on May 18. And we can now report that the band has a label for “Infinite Arms”. Or, rather, the band has three labels for “Infinite Arms”: Brown Records/Fat Possum/Columbia.
As you can see on the right, the physical product won’t look too different from the previous two albums. The package will feature photography from Christopher Wilson, who has worked with the band in the past.
Before the album is released, Band Of Horses will bring their live show to venues both US and Europe. Click here for the tourdates.
Death Breath, the Swedish old-school death metal project featuring former Entombed drummer and main songwriter Nicke Andersson (most recently the frontman of rock ‘n’ roll band The Hellacopters), has completed the fourth recording session for its new album. According to the group, “pretty much everything besides vocals are finished. [We'd] have to say that we’ve recorded our fastest and heaviest stuff so far!”
A unmixed version of a brand new Death Breath track, ”Obsessed By Sodomy”, is available for streaming on the group’s MySpace page. The song will appear on Death Breath’s new CD, due later in the year via Psychout/Black Lodge.
On March 9 the Avett Brothers will play a special acoustic performance (and do a sigining) at Borders in Ann Arbor, MI. The performance will be streamed live via the Avett Brothers Facebook page, details to follow.

Band of Horses return with their much anticipated third album “Infinite Arms” on May 18. The label that will release the album hasn’t been announced yet.
Touring members Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds make their debut on record with“Infinite Arms”, which was produced by the band and Phil Ek, who worked on the band’s past albums. All five members contributed to the recording process, causing frontman Ben Bridwell to state, “in many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record.”
Fourteen years after his last album of original material, psych-rock legend and onetime 13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson is readying a new record called “True Love Cast Out All Evil”, out April 20 via Anti- in the USA. The UK release will come on June 7 via Chemikal Underground.
And he got some top-shelf help to bring his songs to life: fellow Austinites Okkervil River back Erickson on the whole LP, and Okkervil frontman Will Sheff produces. The team-up isn’t a surprise, since Erickson played with Okkervil River at SXSW in 2008 and 2009.

‘Day And Then The Shade’, the new video from Sweden’s Katatonia, can be viewed below. We thought we’d also post this as the Petting Zoo loves Katatonia’s music. The clip was directed by Lasse Hoile, who has previously worked with Opeth and Porcupine Tree, among others. The song comes off the band’s eighth studio album, “Night Is The New Day”, which was released in Europe on November 2 and in North America on November 10 via Peaceville Records.
A mini-site for “Night Is The New Day” can be accessed at this location. It includes audio samples, downloads, album information, interviews, art gallery plus exclusive previously unseen studio diaries from the recording session.
“Night Is The New Day” is the long-awaited new studio album of transcendental, atmospheric rock and metal, exploring the darker corners of audial melancholy. It was recorded throughout July 2009 and was co-produced, engineered and mixed by David Castillo. A continuation of the heaviness, depth and atmosphere of their previous album, “Night Is The New Day” is also a more multi-dimensional effort — waltzing between prog moments, doom, folk & the classic melodic anthems that are the staple of Katatonia’s uncompromising sound, completed by the haunting tones of Jonas Renkse’s vocal journeys of urban and emotional decay. Cover art once again comes courtesy of Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth, Novembre) and continues the stylistic identity established so effectively since The Great Cold Distance album.
