NASHVILLE PUSSY From Hell To Texas news

December 22nd, 2008

The new album From Hell To Texas from Nashville Pussy will be released on 2 February 2009 in Europe (30 January in Germany and 10 February in the USA). The album will be available as CD and gatefold LP (artwork available soon!!!)

The new album was produced by Daniel Rey and Gordie Johnson, engineered and mixed by Gordie Johnson and Jacob Sciba, mastered by Howie Weinberg and last but not least recorded and mixed at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio, Texas. The album includes a guest appearance by Danko Jones.

Nashville Pussy have celebrated their brand of genuine rock n’roll for more than a decade, in classic style at times, surprising at others, but always earthy, raw and unadulterated. Band mastermind Blaine Cartwright (vocals, guitar), his wife Ruyter Suys (guitar), Karen Cuda (bass) and Jeremy Thompson (drums) spent three years working on their latest rock release, entitled From Hell To Texas. Three years which saw the band hone their most impressive recording to date alongside the non stop touring, from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Japan, and most recently almost a year straight with the Reverend Horton Heat,  “We allowed ourselves this time to give the songs the chance to turn out as perfect as possible,” Cartwright explains. “We kept playing the new tracks at our rehearsal room until they really clicked. I feel they’re heavier and grittier than previous releases. The whole creative process took three long years, but the result has been worth the trouble.”

Nashville Pussy came together in 1996. Albums such as Let Them Eat Pussy (1998), High As Hell (2000) or Say Something Nasty (2002) have caused an international stir, and their 1999 single release ´Fried Chicken And Coffee` earned the band a Grammy nomination in the category ‘Best Metal Performance’.

Steamhammer/SPV signs THE ANSWER

December 22nd, 2008

They are considered Europe’s hottest rock act and are currently causing a world-wide stir: the sensational quartet The Answer from Newcastle in County Down, Northern Ireland, have just signed a contract with Steamhammer/SPV.

The band, led by charismatic frontman Cormac Neeson are currently on a world tour alongside AC/DC, impressing even the most discerning audiences night after night. 2 March 2009 (Germany: 27 February 2009) will see the arrival of The Answer’s second album, Everyday Demons. Experts see the band as legitimate successors of rock and blues rock legends such as Free, Cream, Led Zeppelin and The Black Crowes. “Everything we do is basically thoroughly honest,” guitarist Paul Mahon describes the band’s philosophy. “We’re a real team and draw our strength from an indestructible inner strength. The four of us stick together like glue.”

The Answer who got together in spring 2000, signed to legendary Australian rock label Albert Productions in 2005 and brought out their debut album, Rise, in 2006. “It took us three or four years to really get noticed,” Paul Mahon explains, “but then it all started to happen at once.” The band have performed with icons such as the Rolling Stones, The Who and Aerosmith, playing celebrated headlining tours in England, Japan and Australia. Their debut, Rise, was greeted enthusiastically by fans and media alike (the Britsh music bible Kerrang! commented: “The Answer are superstars already”) and has sold more than 100,000 copies to date.

The Answer will continue to tour America with AC/DC until the end of January, and starting 18 February, the band will visit Europe as special guests as part of the sold-out Black Ice tour. Their spectacular second album, Everyday Demons, is scheduled to arrive 2 March 2009. “We’ve been on tour almost constantly for two years, have seen a lot of the world and made a lot of important experiences – a development that you can hear on Everyday Demons,” comments Mahon, giving a little preview of an album that’s likely to make rock history

SPV celebrate 25th anniversary

December 19th, 2008

SPV – A quarter of a century in the service of rock music, lots of retail and re-release campaigns in 2009

SPV celebrate their 25th anniversary: the label from Hanover was launched 25 years ago, on 1 January 1984 to be precise. What started with the sampler Soundtrack Zum Untergang and bands such as Toxoplasma, Slime, Sodom and Destruction soon threatened to burst the seams of the 100m² offices and 100m² storage rooms at Osterstraße. Today SPV operate from their own premises at Brüsseler Straße and have become one of the most important, successful and committed record labels in Europe. Since 1984, SPV have focused on metal and rock, supplying music to suit all tastes. To celebrate their anniversary, they have scheduled a whole range of exciting retail and re-release campaigns throughout 2009. Please check their website for the latest news here.

The SPV anniversary year will kick off with five download samplers, covering the themes Power Metal, Classic Rock Tracks Live, Thrash ´Em All, German Metal and Women In Rock. Starting on 25th January 2009, these samplers will be available at anniversary prices from all relevant European download stores. February will see the arrival of highly interesting LP releases (many of them available on vinyl again for the first time since the eighties, some of them out on vinyl for the first time ever), among them Accept’s Restless & Wild and Breaker; Savatage’s Hall Of The Mountain King, Streets, Power Of The Night and Gutter Ballet; Iced Earth’s The Crucible Of Man (on double LP) and Ghost Opera and The Black Halo by Kamelot.
In addition, there will be a large number of re-releases in 2009, by Axel Rudi Pell, Destruction and Sodom, among others, all of them remastered using state-of-the-art technology and featuring interesting liner notes as well as exciting bonus material. More campaigns under the “25 & Alive – SPV” logo will be available throughout the anniversary year.

CAMOUFLAGE 2DVD+CD in January

December 16th, 2008

Germany’s electropop legends Camouflage will be releasing their first ever DVD Live In Dresden on January 26 via Synthetic Symphony/SPV.

Live In Dresden goes beyond the scope of the usual live documentary many times over: Receptive fans as well as interested newcomers to the Camouflage fold will gain insights into the fascinating world of Camouflage on 2 DVD’s and a CD. The CD and 1st DVD contain a live recording of a concert which the band performed at Dresden’s Reithalle. It’s characteristic of the band that this concert didn’t turn into a pure “greatest hits” event, but contains, along with their most popular hits, selected highlights from 25 years of band history, such as ‘You Turn’ or ‘The Perfect Key’, which stylishly complement the overall picture and impressively document that Camouflage don’t just tell their story but continue to live intensely.

Their as much unpretentious as powerful performance is enhanced by the 2nd DVD, which contains not only all the band’s videoclips in chronological order, but also rare unplugged clips and a number of TV appearances which show quite plainly the changes the band has gone through during the past two decades.

A one-hour documentary about their Russian tour in 2006 rounds off the picture and allows their fans a glimpse behind the curtains, giving impressions of life on the road and allowing insights into their lives. Click ‘Read more’ below for the complete tracklisting of the 2DVD+CD package.
