Legendary thrashers Toxik return and are on the big screen, for one night only! Hudson Horror Show Inc., in association with Grindhouse Releasing, proudly presents a one-night-only horror film festival on May 22, 2010 at the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Hudson Horror Show festival will be highlighted by an appearance of one metal’s most revered cult metal acts, Toxik.
Toxik has assembled rare video footage of those classic years for its DVD, ”Toxik – Think Again”, which will have an exclusive extended preview at Hudson Horror Show. Toxik members Josh Christian (guitar), Tad Leger (drums) and Mike Sanders (vocals) are all tentatively scheduled to appear at the event.
Advance tickets are on sale now and are $26.00. There are only 150 tickets available, so it is recommended that you buy your tickets in advance. It has been a while, hasn’t it? Again, I would like to start off by thanking everybody out there for the feedback that keeps pouring in! It is highly motivating to see that so many more than just us guys in the band are enthusiastic about the making of the new album.
Vocals should be more or less done by today; I stopped by the studio earlier this morning where Herbrand were warming up to do some clean vocals. I’ve so far only heard two of the tracks with complete vocals, and that was totally amazing to hear. It was last Tuesday, and a very important day for the album: Truls Espedal, the brilliant artist that has made every Enslaved front cover since “Monumension” forwards – came to Bergen to go through the concept and lyrics with me and Grutle. We are always looking forward to these meetings, where Truls is making rapid sketches as we talk about the overall structures and listen to rough mixes made so far.

The self-produced album was mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and features the exquisite string arrangements of Dave Stewart (Stewart/Gaskin, Porcupine Tree) and mastering skills of legendary Jon Astley (The Who, Led Zeppelin). Firebird, the British power trio led by guitarist Bill Steer, has finished mastering its new album, tentatively titled ”Double Diamond”, for a summer 2010 release. The CD features ten songs recorded at Graveland studios in ‘s-Graveland, Holland during January. According to the band, “this recording heralds a new chapter for the band, seeing [guitarist/vocalist Bill] Steer and [drummer Ludwig] Witt draw inspiration from some of their earliest metal favourites such as Budgie, Fist and Tank.”

An unmixed version of a brand new Death Breath track, ”Obsessed By Sodomy”, is also available for streaming on the group’s MySpace page. The song will appear on Death Breath’s new CD, due later in the year via Psychout/Black Lodge.

Furthering the focused songwriting and recording aspirations reached on New Seasons, The Sadies bring their signature blend of country, psychedelic, rock and surf into rifle scope focus on Darker Circles, further underscoring their reputations as musicians’ musicians. The album was recorded in one marathon twelve day session at the ‘Bathhouse’ studio and five more at Toronto’s Woodshed.

We just received this message from Hváll and Vreid:
“This weekend we were gathered in the good old ”Fjøsen” (our rehearsal place from the Ulcus & Windir days). It was a great atmosphere to rehearse there again, and especially with all the stuff we are working with at the moment, everything from new line up, new album and the upcoming special shows.
About the shows with a special guest: We have been rehearsing on a special live set. We will do 3 selected shows this spring where we will be joined by a special guest for a few extra songs. The special guest is Vegard Bakken, brother of Terje Valfar Bakken. This will be full Vreid concerts plus that we will play a couple of Windir songs with Vegard doing the vocals on these songs.
The shows will take place at:
29th of April: W2, Den Bosch, Netherlands.
30th of April: Ragnarök festival, Kreuth, Germany
01th of May: Fiesta Pagana, Schmerikon, Switzerland
This is something we have considered for quite some time. The loss of our brother & closest friend back in 2004 is something that has had a major impact on our lives, and is always affecting us both as persons and musicians. We have strong relationship with Vegard, and the music & spirit of Windir is something that unify us. We all grew up together and there is a bond between us, Vegard & Terje that never will be broken.

Last week, Band Of Horses let the world know that their third album “Infinite Arms” would hit record stores on May 18. And we can now report that the band has a label for “Infinite Arms”. Or, rather, the band has three labels for “Infinite Arms”: Brown Records/Fat Possum/Columbia.
As you can see on the right, the physical product won’t look too different from the previous two albums. The package will feature photography from Christopher Wilson, who has worked with the band in the past.
