It has been a while, hasn’t it? Again, I would like to start off by thanking everybody out there for the feedback that keeps pouring in! It is highly motivating to see that so many more than just us guys in the band are enthusiastic about the making of the new album.
Vocals should be more or less done by today; I stopped by the studio earlier this morning where Herbrand were warming up to do some clean vocals. I’ve so far only heard two of the tracks with complete vocals, and that was totally amazing to hear. It was last Tuesday, and a very important day for the album: Truls Espedal, the brilliant artist that has made every Enslaved front cover since “Monumension” forwards – came to Bergen to go through the concept and lyrics with me and Grutle. We are always looking forward to these meetings, where Truls is making rapid sketches as we talk about the overall structures and listen to rough mixes made so far.
“The music on “Reptilian” is more in your face and direct than before so we chose this cover and the title to emphasise that directness as well as focusing even more on the fantasy element in the band. This beast of an album is staring at you and it’s going straight for your throat!” – Obsidian C. / Keep Of Kalessin

We just received this message from Hváll and Vreid:
“This weekend we were gathered in the good old ”Fjøsen” (our rehearsal place from the Ulcus & Windir days). It was a great atmosphere to rehearse there again, and especially with all the stuff we are working with at the moment, everything from new line up, new album and the upcoming special shows.
About the shows with a special guest: We have been rehearsing on a special live set. We will do 3 selected shows this spring where we will be joined by a special guest for a few extra songs. The special guest is Vegard Bakken, brother of Terje Valfar Bakken. This will be full Vreid concerts plus that we will play a couple of Windir songs with Vegard doing the vocals on these songs.
The shows will take place at:
29th of April: W2, Den Bosch, Netherlands.
30th of April: Ragnarök festival, Kreuth, Germany
01th of May: Fiesta Pagana, Schmerikon, Switzerland
This is something we have considered for quite some time. The loss of our brother & closest friend back in 2004 is something that has had a major impact on our lives, and is always affecting us both as persons and musicians. We have strong relationship with Vegard, and the music & spirit of Windir is something that unify us. We all grew up together and there is a bond between us, Vegard & Terje that never will be broken.
Here are screenshots (click for direct links) of the latest e-cards Indie Recordings made available for their new releases. Included are e-cards for Audrey Horne, Borknagar and Shining. The Shining e-card was already posted before, but as they’re still going strong everywhere we thought we’d remind you. Spread the word!
We just received this review of Shining as ’100 bands you need to know in 2010′ in the new issue of Alternative Press magazine (USA). Very cool! Check it out, click the pic for a bigger picture.
Kvelertak from Stavanger, Norway, the great new signing on Indie Recordings, are currently in the USA recording their debut album with producer Kurt Ballou (Converge) in his Godcity studios in Boston. He has produced some of Kvelertak’s favorite bands, incl. Doomriders, Torche, Disfear, Trap Them, and of course Converge. The album will be released in Norway in June, and in the rest of the world in September. Kvelertak was one of the highlights at the 2010 EuroSonic festival in Groningen, the Netherlands.

“Demonoir” is without a shadow of a doubt 1349’s darkest, most sinister and brutal work to date, and in this case it comes to mean that the band has gone from the utterly extreme to the genre-expanding and mindboggling. Black Metal cannot, and will never be the same.
For the band’s fifth full-length release – which will be released by Indie Recordings throughout Europe on April 26, and by Prosthetic Records in North America the following day – 1349 decided to suck out the fiercest and most potent energies from every single member and surroundings, channeling it into songs that are pulsating with uncanny atmospheres, rawness and nerve shattering intensity. The whole process of getting the material on record was like one long, exhausting black magic summoning that could not be allowed to go wrong.
