MEGADETH Radio

October 22nd, 2009

Megadeth’s radio station, “Megadeth Radio”, is now available for streaming using the widget below.

Megadeth guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine has complete creative control in the programming of his 24-hour channel, which features interviews, news, personal commentary, and playlists of his favorite music.

The multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated rockers follow hot on the heels of A.P.E. stations “Radio Weezer”, “Christina Aguilera Radio” and “Eagles Radio Hosted by Joe Walsh”.

“Megadeth Radio” is set to become the destination of choice for both the band’s fans as well as anyone who appreciates hard-rocking radio, and will be distributed across Clear Channel Radio’s “iheartradio” network (www.iheartradio.com), which includes hundreds of local radio web sites; the popular iheartradio mobile app, which has been downloaded by 3.5 million people; widgets; and www.megadeth.com. Just like the other A.P.E. stations, fans can participate in “Megadeth Radio” by emailing their comments to megadeth@aperadio.com or calling 1-866-686-1010.

Says Mustaine, “Megadeth has been on the forefront of music for over 25 years. Now we’re breaking ground in radio. We’re giving metalheads everywhere a look inside and an opportunity to see what influences our world and music.”

When the public tunes into “Megadeth Radio”, they’ll hear selected playlists of some of the band’s favorite songs, including artists such as AC/DC, Arch Enemy, Black Sabbath, Suicidal Tendencies, Killswitch Engage and many more. Interviews and eclectic stories told by the band members will punctuate the programming, including Mustaine talking about his younger days (and trading pot to a record store clerk for albums), Metallica, his writing process and more. The station is a hard-rocking outlet unlike any other, and attractive to all fans of innovative audio entertainment.

Head Crusher comes off Megadeth’s twelfth studio album, Endgame, which is due at the end of  September through Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at the band’s brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic’s Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

Endgame track listing:

01. Dialectic Chaos
02. This Day We Fight!
03. 44 Minutes
04. 1,320′
05. Bite The Hand That Feeds
06. Bodies Left Behind
07. Endgame
08. The Hardest Part Of Letting Go… Sealed With A Kiss
09. Headcrusher
10. How the Story Ends
11. Nothing Left To Lose

Endgame” was helmed by Mustaine and acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (Exodus, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Machine Head). Sneap also manned the boards for 2007′s album United Abominations.

According to a press release, Endgame “boasts the technicality, ferocity and snarl that’s synonymous with Megadeth and Mustaine. It’s a violent masterwork that represents Mustaine’s best work in nearly two decades. In a musical world dominated by bands that make generic, blanket statements, Endgame finds Mustaine, once again, making informed and substantial lyrical declarations about the state of the world we live in.”

Commented Mustaine: “Thematically, I’ve never been known to be a silent bystander in a world that needs our participation. As more is revealed about our former President’s legacy, a little-known yet staggeringly frightening document which was signed into law, named ‘Endgame’, has been uncovered. The album ‘Endgame’ is the most energetic music offering I have penned in over a decade and is far more believable than knowing someone signed ‘Endgame’ — the document — into law. The album is also the perfect ‘ass-kicking’ music to listen to once you are done reading the aforementioned document!”

He added, “This new album is my proudest moment since the famous (or infamous) Rust In Peace album. With this album, I am also very excited to be introducing my new lead guitarist, Chris Broderick, to the world. I have always felt lucky to have had top shredders in that position, but after touring with Chris in support of my last album, I couldn’t wait to get into the studio and see what he could do.”

MEGADETH drummer talks about new album

May 21st, 2009

On January 7, Megadeth commenced the recording process for its twelfth studio album at the band’s own Vic’s Garage studio in San Marcos, California. The CD was once again being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy “Undie” Sneap, who produced Megadeth’s last album, “United Abominations” (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).

Tentatively due in the fall via Roadrunner, Megadeth’s forthcoming LP will be the group’s first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.

Shawn Drover of MEGADETHCommented Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover: “So, as many of you have now been made aware, the tracking process for the new Megadeth record is now complete!! When I heard this for myself, it really jacked me up, as we have all worked so hard on making this record the best it can possibly be, and I can honestly reveal to you that we have done just that. I have to give kudos to Andy Sneap here, who absolutely busted his ass and pushed all of us (while being a polite Englishman) to capture the best performances possible, and injecting a valid ‘metal’ opinion when he needed to. High kicks all around!!

“When we started listening to all the potential riffs for this record from Dave’s [Mustaine] ‘Pandora’s box of metal riffs’ (as I like to call it), I kept hearing so many great riffs, song ideas, etc. and I knew right out of the gate that if we could capture these ideas and shape them into great songs, this record had the potential to really be great. I just remember looking at Andy Sneap while these riffs were being played and I knew we were thinking the exact same thing. Soon you will know and hear exactly what I am talking about. As I completely detest comparing new music to previous music, I won’t here, but I do believe those who are fans of Megadeth will love this record, as it has something for everybody. That’s all I am going to say about that.”
