“This weekend we were gathered in the good old ”Fjøsen” (our rehearsal place from the Ulcus & Windir days). It was a great atmosphere to rehearse there again, and especially with all the stuff we are working with at the moment, everything from new line up, new album and the upcoming special shows.
About the shows with a special guest: We have been rehearsing on a special live set. We will do 3 selected shows this spring where we will be joined by a special guest for a few extra songs. The special guest is Vegard Bakken, brother of Terje Valfar Bakken. This will be full Vreid concerts plus that we will play a couple of Windir songs with Vegard doing the vocals on these songs.
The shows will take place at:
29th of April: W2, Den Bosch, Netherlands.
30th of April: Ragnarök festival, Kreuth, Germany
01th of May: Fiesta Pagana, Schmerikon, Switzerland
This is something we have considered for quite some time. The loss of our brother & closest friend back in 2004 is something that has had a major impact on our lives, and is always affecting us both as persons and musicians. We have strong relationship with Vegard, and the music & spirit of Windir is something that unify us. We all grew up together and there is a bond between us, Vegard & Terje that never will be broken.
Recently Vreid put out the digital single called ‘Noen Å Hate’ This track is a classic Norwegian rock track by the legendary Norwegian Rock band Raga Rockers. The track was recorded in October 2009, in their own Studio 1184. This is a song the band played frequently live in the early days, and is a favorite among the band members. The single also contains the live audio tracks of the songs ‘Svart’ & ‘Speak Goddamnit’ from their forthcoming Live DVD entitled “Vreid Goddamnit”. Via iTunes you can also get the full artwork and digital booklet when purchasing all three tracks! The upcoming DVD, contains the complete show at the Inferno Festival 2009 at The Rockefeller in Oslo, as well as loads of extra material. “Vreid Goddamnit” is due for a spring/Summer 2010 release.

Vreid will be touring Europe as special guest on the Pestilence European tour in April! Here’s an update we received from Vreid’s Hváll. He’s very excited, and comments on the upcoming tour:
”Vreid are ready for another European tour. I have to admit that we especially are looking forward to this one, as we are joining the legends of Pestilence as their special guests. I think this will be a great package, and I can’t wait to see Pestilence live after all these years. The tour will take us back to the great cities of London & Paris, where we had brilliant shows in during the Skogstour. We can promise you that we will deliver some songs that we did not play last time. Also this tour will take us to a lot of new venues, and countries we haven’t played in a while such as Italy, Switzerland, Belgium & Austria.
The tour will kick of in great manners as both bands play the Inferno festival. This festival is always a great Norwegian metal party, and we expect nothing less this year. The great thing about Inferno is that we get to meet and play for fans from all over the world at one single show. For Inferno we will do a special concert that will give the show an extra visual dimension. The show will be filmed & recorded for possible use on a forthcoming DVD. This is also our first Norwegian show since the release of Milorg, and we sure are looking forward to unleash both new & old material at our home base.”

Opeth and Vreid are confirmed for this years Zwarte Cross festival in Lichtenvoorde (NL) from July 24 – 26. Other heavy bands already confirmed are Arch Enemy, Comeback Kid, Delain, Enslaved, Stratovarius, Peter Pan Speedrock, Normaal, The Shavers, The Seatsniffers, Korplikaani and Walls Of Jericho. The Petting Zoo also recommends Le Chat Noir and Dollhouse! More bands will be added to the line-up, stay tuned and visit the official Zwarte Cross website here or click the banner below to go there.
A total of 18 metal bands will perform at the event which will feature 12 stages, a campsite, a theater area, a stunt arena, a kids corner and a full-blown motocross circuit. The Zwarte Cross has grown into one of the most unique festivals in Europe over the years and welcomed over 100,000 visitors in 2008.

Comment from Hváll of Vreid: “Pestilence is one of those dinosaurs that will never die. They have been away for 15 years, but are now back stronger than ever. Back in the early 90’s Pestilence, Death & Carcass were top notch in my book, and songs like ‘Out of the Body’, ‘Twisted Truth’ and ‘Parracide’ are timeless classics. Some weeks ago we were asked to join the Pestilence reunion European tour as special guests – this is a great honour for us.”
“We have just finished a tremendous European tour with Kampfar and Iskald. We did not know what to expect as this was a headliner tour, but the response was amazing. The venues were crowded, the audience gave us killer feedback, and the shows in London, Paris & Bischofswerda were some of the highlights. The new songs were working out very well live, and the live set these days is without doubt the strongest set ever.”
The Skogstur was the first part of the Milorg tour 2009. The second part will start at the Inferno festival in Oslo, and from there we go to London with Pestilence. The Pestilence tour will once again bring us to the great rock cities of Paris and London, as well as new venues in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.

Norwegian metalheads Vreid issue the following update before their European tour kicks off upcoming weekend:
“Allright! The wait is over, and we are ready to hit the road again. Since the summer festivals of 2008 we only did 6 selected shows in Germany, US, Ireland & Norway. All focus has been put on finishing Milorg and getting the album out there. Now the album is finally out, and what a response it has gotten. The reviews have been brilliant, sales are going great, and the feedback from you out there is fantastic. Over the last months we have gotten several offers for tours and festivals. The “Skogstur” that kicks of this weekend, the Inferno, Summer Breeze & Brutal Assault festivals have already been announced. We are currently looking into several other offers, and have some fantastic concert news to be announced quite soon.
Last weekend we hooked up in our good old rehearsal place “Fjøsen” in Sogndal. It was a magic feeling playing the new songs. I am confident that these songs will bring Vreid to a new level as a live band. The Brigade is for sure 100% ready for new missions, and is in better shape than ever. The Milorg material will be well represented on the upcoming tour- so will the old stuff, and we guarantee to play songs from all the albums every goddamn night.
We are looking forward to tour with our Norse commerades Kampfar & Iskald who both released great albums in the fall of 2008. This is a killer package of Norwegian music, history & culture. Vreid released a trailer for Milorg, the fourth album from the Norwegian band formed by former Windir members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums) and Sture (vocals, guitar). The trailer can be viewed here.
Milorg is scheduled for release on January 19, 2009 via Indie Recordings. A song from the CD, ‘Speak Goddamnitt’, is available for streaming on the band’s MySpace page.
